Thomas discovered Unity in 2017 and soon entered ministerial studies. He was ordained and received his Master of Divinity from Unity Worldwide Spiritual Institute in 2023. Following his ordination, he served as Assistant Minister at UVI, focusing on online programming, social media, and marketing—experience that naturally prepared him for his current role as Senior Minister.

Alongside his ministry, Thomas is a spiritual teacher on the meditation app InsightTimer, where he has led over 400 live sessions and offers programs on mindfulness and spiritual living. A lifelong musician and drummer, he also shares his love of music in Sunday services. He and his wife Leslie live on Vancouver Island with their twin daughters, Brook and Tatum.

The Board of Directors of Unity Vancouver Island is delighted to announce the appointment of Thomas DeSchutter as Senior Minister, effective July 1, 2024.

Patricia discovered New Thought in 1979 and instantly knew she had found her spiritual home. She studied with Dr. Jacquie Darby through The Ernest Holmes College and was ordained in 2001. Over the years, she has served communities in Victoria, Winnipeg, and Kamloops, bringing wisdom and compassion to each ministry.

Returning to Vancouver Island in 2013, Patricia soon realized her calling was not finished. She became minister at Unity of Nanaimo in 2016 and helped guide the joyful unification of the Victoria, Comox Valley, and Nanaimo congregations into Unity Vancouver Island. Today, she continues to serve as an associate minister, devoted to sharing the message of love, oneness, and conscious living.

Vicki first discovered Unity in 1980 and has been deeply committed ever since. She became a Licensed Unity Teacher in 2001, entered ministerial training after moving to the Comox Valley, and was ordained in 2015. She now serves as an associate minister with Unity Vancouver Island and on the Unity Canada board.

Her life reflects a passion for both service and adventure—from health care work in rural Kenya to founding alternative schools in Canada, and from homesteading to volunteering with Tibetan refugees in India. Through it all, she remains dedicated to living Unity principles, practicing kindness, and encouraging others to express their unique divine nature.

Judi was introduced to Unity at age 40—just like Myrtle Fillmore—and soon became an active volunteer in the Victoria and Comox churches, serving in roles from music coordinator to board president. After retiring from VIHA in 2008, she embraced a new calling and became a Licensed Unity Teacher in 2015.

Today, Judi enjoys speaking and teaching across Vancouver Island, the Mainland, and Washington State, as well as coordinating the Comox Grow Team. She is also active in the arts and community service, volunteering with the Sid Williams Theatre, Woodstove Festival, Evergreen Players, Connect Warming Centre, and L’Arche I Belong Centre, while serving as secretary for the Municipal Pension Retirees Association.
